What are the causes of male Infertility?
Infertility in men is most often caused by:
- Problems making sperm
- Abnormal sperm shape or structure or immunological problems prevent it from moving correctly
- Sexual Dysfunction
What are the causes of female infertility?
The most common causes of female infertility include problems with ovulation, damage to fallopian tubes or uterus, or problems with the cervix.
Female fertility declines sharply after the age of 35. Sometimes it can be a combination of factors, and sometimes a clear cause is never established when it is termed unexplained infertility.
When should I opt for IVF?
Couple should go to IVF when the chances of pregnancy with other methods are low but relatively higher with IVF. Few reasons to opt IVF are: fallopian tube damage, moderate to severe endometriosis, pelvic adhesions and more than mild male infertility factor.
How aging affects fertility and pregnancy?
A woman's peak reproductive years are the late 20s. By age 30, fertility starts to decline. This decline becomes more rapid once you reach your mid-30s. By 45, fertility has declined so much that getting pregnant naturally is unlikely for most women.
Does PCOS affect a woman's fertility?
PCOS is one of the most common, but treatable, causes of infertility in women. In women with PCOS, the hormonal imbalance interferes with the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries (ovulation). If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant.
